Resolving the Allow Access Issue After an Update

Overview

After an update of Modify My Request which requires new permissions to be allowed due to new functionality, some users encounter a recurring access prompt even after granting permission.

This bug related to Forge apps is yet to be resolved by Atlassian and until then, there is a workaround which requires revoking the current access permission first.

This guide will help you resolve the issue step by step.

Steps to Resolve the Issue

  1. Initial Access Grant: Open Jira Service Management and navigate to the configuration of Modify My Request app. You will be prompted to allow access. Click the "Allow access" button. However, if the prompt reappears after refreshing the page, follow the next steps to resolve the issue.

  1. Managing Connected Apps: On the account settings page, navigate to the "Connected apps" tab located in the top menu. Here, you will see a list of apps connected to your account, including Modify My Request.

  1. Revoking Duplicate Access Permissions: In the "Connected apps" section, locate "Modify My Request." If it appears multiple times due to repeated access attempts, you need to revoke access for each instance. Click the "Remove access" button next to each instance of Modify My Request. Confirm the revocation by clicking "Remove" in the pop-up that appears for each instance.

  1. Reconfiguring Modify My Request: After revoking the duplicate access permissions, return to Jira Service Management. Navigate to the "Projects" section and select the project where you want to use Modify My Request. Click on the "Back to project" button in the left menu to ensure you are in the correct project view.

Scroll down the left toolbar and click on "Project settings." Continue scrolling until you find the "Modify My Request" option. Click on it, and you will be prompted to allow access once again.

Click the "Allow access" button and accept the prompt that appears. Finally, check the box that says, "Enable Modify My Request button on Customer Portal" and ensure it is marked. You should see a confirmation message indicating that the settings were saved successfully.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the access issue and continue using Modify My Request without further interruptions.
